Voters took to the polls yesterday, May 1, for Westbourne and Poets’ Corner in Hove following the resignation of Leslie Pumm in March this year.
The ballots were counted today, May 2, and Councillor Sam Parrott for Labour came out on top with 894 votes.
The newly elected councillor said: “I am incredibly honoured to have been given the chance to represent the people of Westbourne and Poets’ Corner.
“I’m looking forward to getting to work immediately.

- Geoff Shanks (Green) – 685
- Michael Wang (Lib Deb) – 598
- Gary Farmer (Reform UK) – 258
- Tony Meadows (Conservative) – 129
- Georgia McKinley-Fitch (Ind Direct Democracy) – 93
- David Maple (Independent TUSC) – 91
- Keith Jago (Independent) – 7

Bella Sankey, leader of the Brighton and Hove City Council, said: “We are all delighted with the result in Westbourne and Poet’s Corner.
“This win shows that the hard work we’ve been doing to create a city that works for everyone is making a real impact.
“I would like to thank every voter who placed their trust in Sam Parrott and all the volunteers and activists who supported his campaign.
