ScotRail has confirmed that services between Glasgow Queen Street and Airdrie are being delayed or revised as a result of the incident.

In a statement, ScotRail said: “Due to a broken-down train between Shettleston and Blairhill, disruption is expected.

“Train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Airdrie will be delayed or revised.”

They have confirmed that the issue is a “challenge” to fix, and as a result, trains are being diverted and skipping Bellshill for the remainder of the day.

ScotRail added: “The fault near Bellshill is proving a challenge for the team to fix.

“Our services will be diverted and will not call at Bellshill en route to Lanark for the rest of the evening.

“Engineers will return overnight to complete repairs.”

Passengers are advised to check live travel updates before setting off and to allow extra time for their journeys.
