Hit Netflix show Heartstopper to come to an end after film

The programme, which has been adapted from Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series of the same name, has entertained fans for three seasons.

Heartstopper follows the blossoming relationship of Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) as well as their many friends.

A release date for the new Netflix film is yet to be announced, but filming for the finale is set to begin this summer.

Discussing the end of Heartstopper, Oseman said: “I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story.”

She added: “I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”

The most recent series of Heartstopper aired in 2024 and ended with the main characters having intercourse for the first time.

The upcoming film will see the pair become increasingly concerned about the sustainability of their long-distance relationship after Nick goes to university.

Beyond their roles in the popular series, the show’s actors have also starred in several other works, with Connor currently taking on a role in a recent Broadway version of Romeo and Juliet.

Joe Locke has also appeared in the popular Marvel programme Agatha All Along.
