A house was taped off after swarms of police descended on a quiet neighbourhood.
Officers were seen patrolling the area in Blackburn Road, Greenhill earlier this afternoon.
Eyewitnesses say they saw police carrying out door knocks while officers in cars were seen surveying the neighbourhood.
Residents were reportedly handed leaflets from officers requesting any CCTV footage of the area following a reported assault on a female member of the public at 2pm.
It is understood a house in the area was secured by officers with forensic crews on site.
The area had cleared by 7.30pm.
