Emergency gas works are causing delays on a key artery with the A229 reduced to one lane.
Temporary four-way traffic lights have been introduced at the Swan crossroads at the intersection of Loose Road and Cripple Street, in Maidstone, while SGN digs up the road alongside Boughton Parade.
There are delays in both directions for traffic travelling in and out of Maidstone, and also on Cripple Street and Boughton Lane.
The lane closure came into force at 2pm this afternoon (April 16) and is expected to last until midnight on Friday, April 25.
Congestion is expected to be even worse during tomorrow morning’s rush hour.
