The alarm was raised at around 6.15pm on Saturday April 12, after a member of the public brought in with what they thought was an unexploded device.
Officers quickly put a cordon in place and called in specialist teams to assess the item.
It was confirmed just under an hour later that the object was not dangerous. It was removed from the scene and the cordon was lifted by 7.15pm.
The station was able to reopen as normal and no one was injured.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A member of the public reported a suspected unexploded ordnance in Bromley Police Station at Saturday, 12 April at 18:16hrs.
“A precautionary safety cordon was put in place.
“At 19:11hrs, the item was deemed not to be a risk to the public and was removed from the location by specialist officers. The cordon was lifted at 19:15hrs.”
