Several emergency vehicles were called to Dover Castle.
At least vehicles were seen at the site, including five fire engines, shortly before 5pm yesterday (April 10).
Pictures taken by witness Jessica Shepherd show several firefighters at the entrance to the wartime tunnels which go beneath the castle.
It is not yet known if anyone has been injured following the incident.
Both English Heritage and emergency services have been contacted for more information.
