Cardonald Library closed in September 2023 after the presence of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was discovered in the roof.
RAAC is less durable than concrete and is prone to collapse when wet.
At the time, Glasgow Life – the arms-length leisure body of Glasgow City Council – said it was in the process of appointing structural engineers to carry out further investigations.
Now, 19 months later, Glasgow Life has provided an update on the building.
Funds have now been approved by the local authority for repair work.

Whilst the closure continues, residents are being advised that their nearest alternative libraries are at Ibrox, Pollok, and Pollokshaws.
