Brighton Marathon brings out best of city’s community

Every year, thousands of runners flock to Brighton seafront to complete a 26.2 mile course around the city.

The runners come in all shapes and sizes – men, women, old, young, disabled, professionals and amateurs. 

The colossal event brings the city to life, with cheering supporters filling the streets and creating an electric atmosphere.

One of the best parts of spectating is reading the signs some have spent hours crafting for their loved ones, spurring them on in their hardest moments. 

As participants make their way round Brighton, complete strangers look up other runners’ numbers just to shout their name and cheer them on.

It is a fulfilling sight to stand and watch people in their thousands cross that finish line while a range of emotions cross their faces – relief, pride, elation, pain and shock.

The city’s vibrancy and one-of-a-kind feel elevates the event to another level, accompanied by Brighton’s stunning views and eclectic streets.
