Speaking on his talkSPORT breakfast show, Ally revealed to co-host Dean Saunders that the celebrations were “curtailed” following his mother’s sad passing.
Now 62, Ally said: “I loved my 60th.
“It was quite sad actually to be brutally honest with you, my wee mum passed and that curtailed any celebrations at all.”

He added: “We went up to Loch Fyne with the kids and we had a lovely meal, down the beach at night, lit a fire.
“We sat on the beach, a couple of glasses, got the stones round, the wood in and just sat there until the early hours of the morning and had a chat.
“I wouldn’t have wanted anything else.”
Ally’s mother died in September 2022 at the age of 95.
