The 48-year-old was stopped by North Ayrshire’s Locality Policing Team on Wednesday, April 2, at Townhead, Irvine.
He was acting suspiciously and was detained for a search, during which the alleged knife was found.

He was arrested, charged, and held in custody to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
Sergeant Thomson of Irvine’s Locality Policing Team said: “Carrying and using offensive weapons and knives is extremely dangerous. It will not be tolerated and those doing so will be identified and apprehended.
“I’d urge anyone who has information in relation to offensive weapons or knife crime to contact us on 101. Information from the public is vital in helping us crack down on violent crime.”
