Emergency crews, including police, paramedics, and firefighters, raced to Blairlinn Industrial Estate after being alerted to a building blaze in the area on Tuesday, April 1 at around 2.30pm.

(Image: Images by Gordon Terris) We previously reported that six men, aged between 20 and 66, were taken to hospital. Five were taken to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary for treatment. Another individual was sent to the University Hospital Monlanks in North Lanarkshire.
None of their injuries are described as being life-threatening.
(Image: Images by Gordon Terris) At the moment, the cause of the fire is unknown. However, police said the emergency services are likely to remain at the scene for some time as the incident remains ongoing.
Now, the force have revealed that an investigation will be launched in due course.
Sergeant Kevin Anderson said: “A multi-agency response remains ongoing and we continue to ask members of the public to avoid the area at this time.
“The fire is contained to within the industrial premises. However, we would continue to ask residents in the Greenfaulds area to keep their windows and doors closed and to stay indoors due to smoke.
“An investigation will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of the fire.”

Six fire trucks were sent to the scene to help tackle the blaze, as well as six ambulances, three special operations response teams (SORT), a paramedic response unit, a trauma team, and a resuscitation rapid response unit to the area.
Surrounding buildings in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
