Brighton Dome’s venues will host a series of performances featuring UK jazz rising stars, New Orleans brass sounds infused with hip-hop and funk, and a unique night of electronic music.
The events will run from Thursday, March 27, to Saturday, March 29.
Kicking off the weekend, Thursday’s gig will be the third in a series of Brighton Dome’s Record Label Nights, which are mixed-bill gigs curated by independent labels.
This event comes from Manchester’s Gondwana Records, known for its progressive electronica and jazz-influenced music.
The line-up includes artists such as composer and saxophonist Jasmine Myra and Danish electronic duo Svanesborg Kardyb.
Portico Quartet’s Jack Wyllie will also perform his Paradise Cinema albums, with a set from Gondwana’s resident DJ, Mari*.
On Friday, March 28, the Hot 8 Brass Band, supported by Brighton label Tru Thoughts, will return to the Concert Hall.
Drawing inspiration from the jazz heritage of their hometown, the band will perform their characteristic funk, rap, and hip-hop-inflected music.
They will be supported by Tru Thoughts artists, including Tara Lily and Steven Bamidele.
Saturday, March 29, will see the Circle of Live event in the Corn Exchange.
Event creator Sebastian Mullaert, along with UK artists Clark and Rival Consoles, will perform live together for the first time.
The artists, who have never met or performed together before, will present a one-off show on a specially designed ‘in-the-round’ stage.
With its rich heritage as an arts venue, Brighton Dome has seen performances from legendary acts such as Jimi Hendrix, ABBA, David Bowie, and Beyoncé.
The recent refurbishment of the historic Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre now includes state-of-the-art sound and lighting technology, and improved facilities for both audiences and artists.
This allows for a more expansive and accessible programme of events.
