Sharing news of the seizure on the Police Scotland Greater Glasgow Facebook page, they wrote: “These bikes, if ridden illegally, are more than just a nuisance on our roads.
“They’re dangerous to both rider and members of the public.
“Your local community officers have a zero tolerance to these offences and will act with the full weight of the legislation whenever we see them.”
We previously reported the Glasgow Times was given the opportunity to join city centre officers on Tuesday, March 4 as they worked to tackle the use of illegal e-bikes and ensure cyclists are complying with the highway code.
It comes after local residents have raised concerns regarding the speed of some e-bikes.

In order to be legal, e-bikes must not exceed 15.5mph or 250 watts.
Any bike that has been modified to exceed that speed is illegal and would be classed as a Category A motor vehicle, meaning it requires the driver to have a licence, helmet, insurance and lighting.
If anyone if caught with an illegal e-bike it will be seized by police.
In December, we revealed 223 e-bikes were seized by police in the Greater Glasgow division between October 2023 and September 2024.
