Ferry Road will be shut from Monday, April 7 through to Sunday, August 17 to allow for Scottish Water to carry out sewer repair works.
The disruption will be in place between Campbell Street and Meadowside Street/ Kings Inch Road.
Alternative routes will be available via Station Road and Andrew Avenue.
Councillor John Shaw, who is a representative for Renfrew North and Braehead, insists the work will be a “major inconvenience” for motorists.

Writing on Facebook, he said: “Whilst this will undoubtedly be a major inconvenience for many in the town it is going to be even more so if the City Deal team fail to get the link road between Inchinnan Road and Meadowside Street open before the Scottish Water closure.
“The City Deal team have known for months this closure was coming but the continuing failure of their contractors to have the road ready is lamentable and now likely to have a massive effect on traffic in the town. We deserve better than this.
“I have this morning written to the chief executive of the Council asking that he do everything in his power to ensure the new link road is either open or agreement is reached with Scottish Water on delaying the start of their works until the new road is fit to open whenever that may be and will report back when I have a response.”
