Southern Water will carry out the work in South Farm Road, Worthing, with traffic diverted along Ardsheal Road into Broadwater Road to Northcourt Road.
The water company said the road is “expected to be shut for the next few days”.

Southern Water also said it is currently waiting on gas distribution company SGN to repair one of its pipes in the same area, before it can gain the access needed.
SGN has since said that while investigating a water leak in South Farm Road a “third party” damaged its gas network.
Bradley Barlow, spokesman for SGN, said: “Repairs to the water pipe were completed this morning and we will be returning to the location shortly to repair our gas network.
“It’s too soon to say how long our repair will take but the water company’s temporary road closure will remain in place until we have completed our work.”

South Farm Road is not the only road closed due to works in Worthing, with Clifton Road being closed since March 5 so Southern Water can carry out repairs.
In West Worthing, Brooklyn Avenue has been partially closed since February 27 while SGN conduct pipe repairs.
