Officers swooped on Meadowside Street in Renfrew shortly after 12pm on Tuesday, March 11.
Cops raced to the area following the discovery of what appeared to be a ‘wartime munition’.
The force has now revealed a controlled explosion was carried out by the bomb squad.

After arriving at the scene on Tuesday afternoon, officers immediately erected a cordon in the area.
Images captured by the Glasgow Times, showed police officers and the bomb squad at the scene.
The photographs also showed Royal Navy Bomb Disposal officers scouring a building site in the area, while cops stood guard.
Shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, police revealed the area had been reopened to the public following the incident.

“The area is now open to the public.”
