A council is checking on vulnerable people after its emergency alarm line went down.
Canterbury City Council’s (CCC) Lifeline service is currently non-operational due to a “technical problem”.
The authority put out an announcement just after 4.15pm today warning customers that vulnerable people would not be access help via their line.
It says it is “working hard to fix” the issue and calling customers and/or their families to update them.
CCC said: “We are also sending the following text message, from CburyCC, to customers and/or their families.
“If you or a loved one needs help in an emergency, please call 999.”
CCC’s Lifeline charges a weekly amount, up to £3.84, for different emergency aids such as fall detectors or pendants.
It aims to support vulnerable people who are at risk of falling, have medical conditions or disabilities or have been discharged from hospital.
The life is also designed to cover anxious people living alone.
