Officers have said the motorway’s westbound carriageway at Junction 27, near Glasgow Airport, is currently closed following a report of a man injured.
The force was alerted to the incident shortly before 6am on Monday, March 3.
After that, emergency crews raced to the scene and the man was then taken to hospital.
Earlier this morning, we reported how Traffic Scotland revealed the road has been shut between Junctions 26 and 27.
Due to the incident, drivers are being urged to ‘avoid the area’.
An investigation is underway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The M8 is closed westbound at Junction 27, Renfrew, following a report of a man injured around 5.40am on Monday, March 3.
“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Please avoid the area.”
