The 31-year-old male pedestrian was badly hurt after a collision with a Vauxhall Zafira on the A706 .
The incident happened at around 7.50pm last night near Yieldshields Road.

The pedestrian was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medical staff describe his condition as serious.
The 52-year-old driver of the car and his three passengers were not injured.
The road was closed for approximately eight hours.
Police are now appealing for information following the smash and are asking for dashcam footage.
Constable Jennifer Weir, Roads Policing, is leading the enquiry. She said: “We would ask anyone, particularly drivers with dashcams, who were in the area between 7.30pm and 7.50pm to contact police if they saw the collision or have any information they think may be relevant to our investigation.”
