Those who live, work or study in the area are being asked to complete a survey from Glasgow City Council on the projects which have been proposed following a public consultation in 2023.
Following the North East District Regeneration Framework Consultation, the five areas of improvement were identified as Parliamentary Path, Townhead Park, Community Open Spaces, Townhead Triangle and Community Facilities and Infrastructure.

The consultation found 74% of people agreed to “the creation of an active travel route” on Parliamentary Path – on the line of the former Parliamentary Road – to create a walking, wheeling and cycling route connecting Townhead with the city centre.
The proposals aim to incorporate step free paths, a segregated cycle route, secure bike storage for residents, improvements to existing open spaces and community gardens.
Townhead Park would see the creation of a collection of open spaces for sports, play, relaxation and active travel for the local community with enhanced biodiversity.

The proposals state Community Open Spaces would utilise available space for community growing, gardens, meadows and a city viewpoint.
This would address the space of private or semi-private green spaces for residents.
The survey states as part of a wider retrofitting masterplan for housing an Open Space Masterplan for Townhead is required to establish a better urban park, safe streets, communal back-courts, community gardens, play and open-air events and exercise spaces, increased tree canopy and meadow planting.
Townhead Triangle would be created in a site currently occupied by housing and bordered by North Hanover Street to the west, Dobbies Loan to St James Road and Parliamentary Path.
The proposals suggest the Triangle should include “a grand space with a public character”, add a landmark open space be an attractive and inspiring place for people living, working, studying or visiting, provide a connection towards Cowcaddens Road and Dobbie’s Loan and provide an anchor space for the Culture Cluster on Renfrew Street.
The consultation also found there is a desire to increase the facilities and infrastructure available within the area that either addresses the needs of those who are not well provided for, such as the young, or which works for the benefit of the community as a whole.
