The boozer revealed the devastating news on Facebook. In the post, the bar said they had been working to ‘resolve issues with the building’, however, it had become ‘apparent that untreated wet rot on’ its foundations was deemed ‘no longer safe’.

(Image: Newsquest) Another beloved Glasgow drinking spot which has closed since the start of the year is Gallagher’s Bar on Howard Street in the city centre.
The Celtic pub recently shared a touching message after closing down its city centre venue.
The boozer shut its doors on January 25 after only two and a half years of serving punters.
In November 2024, the pub announced that in February 2025 they would no longer be trading from the venue.
The bar said due to them taking on a ‘short-term lease’ for The Squirrel Bar on Stevenston Street, their landlord ‘refused’ to renew the venue’s lease on Howard Street.
They revealed it was their ‘intention’ to have an additional pub to accommodate ‘the custom’ they were ‘having to turn away each week’ due to being at ‘full capacity’.
However, the bar said it isn’t ‘the end’ of Gallaghers. The owners of the pub, which is popular with Hoops fans, said once The Squirrel is up and running they will be looking for a new Gallagher’s venue in the city centre.
