Kent Spitfires’ skipper Sam Billings celebrated his latest T20 success on Sunday.
He joined up with Dubai Capitals after his loss in the Australian T20 Big Bash League final last month – and took on captaincy duties to go one step further in the International League T20, as they beat Desert Vipers by four wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Facing a Vipers team captained by Surrey’s Sam Curran, captain Billings scored six in the final as West Indian international Rovman Powell’s 63 from 38 balls guided Dubai Capitals to their four-wicket win.
Overall, the 33-year-old played four games in the competition, having offered 38 from 16 balls in last Wednesday’s five-wicket victory over Desert Vipers.
Former England batsman Ian Bell was Dubai Capitals’ batting coach Ian Bell, led by ex-Indian international Hemang Badani.
He adds the ILT20 title to his stellar short-format honours list after winning the Indian Premier League in 2018 with Chennai Super Kings, the T20 Blast with Kent Spitfires in 2021, the Pakistan Super League for Lahore Qalandars in 2023, the Hundred with Oval Invincibles in 2023 and 2024, and the BBL for Brisbane Heat in 2024.
Kent also will host men’s open trials day at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, in Canterbury this Friday.
