Promising young defender Sam Gale has signed a new deal at Gillingham.
Gale, 20, has started the last two games under current boss John Coleman and has now penned a new deal which ties him to the Gills until the summer of 2027, with a club option of a further year.

He’s the latest young player to agree a longer-term deal with the Gills after Joe Gbode and Harry Webster both agreed new contracts with the club in September.
Gillingham are putting a focus on younger players which has been reflected in the recent transfer window with five new players signed, all 23 or under.
They are also keen to act early to keep hold of their best young players coming through the youth system.
Gale has been with the Gills since leaving Arsenal’s academy as a 12-year-old and the Sevenoaks-based defender recently spoke to the media about his love for the club.
In his first interview as a professional, Gale said: “I feel the weight of the badge in a good way. This club means everything to me.
“I’ve come through this club and how this club looks in the future, after I’m done playing, matters to me. It’s a massive honour.”
Reacting to his new deal, he said: “I am over the moon to secure my future at this club. It is something I have worked hard for.
“It has happened quite quickly but I am really happy about it. It’s a nice feeling.”
He’s previously enjoyed loan spells at Sheppey United, Hastings United and earlier this season with Chelmsford City.
He was recalled from that loan in December and played one game under former boss Mark Bonner before Coleman also handed him a chance in the first team.
