The 5.43pm train to Southampton Central was held at Worthing railway station for several minutes due to the drama on board.
As the train travelled through Shoreham, the girls were seen rushing back and forth between carriages, having spotted two boys they knew – with one of the girls saying they were going to be “jumped” by them.
They were also heard trying to work out where the ticket inspector was.

When the train stopped at Worthing, an announcement was given saying the train would be held while two passengers causing a disturbance were removed.
Southern Rail security officers were then seen on board and located the two girls, telling them to leave.
One of the girls was heard saying: “Listen to me before I start getting p****d off”, claiming someone on board had stolen their jumper.
The scenes on board sparked a range of emotions among passengers, from fascination – with some opening dividing carriage doors to see what happened – to irritation, with one woman getting up and telling the girl to leave.
The security staff prevailed, escorting the girls off within a couple of minutes.
The driver apologised to passengers for the delay, saying she “would not tolerate any threats or violence towards her staff”.
