The woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, was found stranded on the mud near Bosham this morning.
It is believed she suffered a cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated on the mud.

Police officers, coastguard crews, firefighters and paramedics attended the incident on the flats off Bosham harbour.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said the woman was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.
It is believed she also had injuries to her feet and neck.
“Police were called following concerns for the welfare of a woman in the harbour at Bosham, about 9.54am,” the force spokesman said.
“The woman was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital.”
