The wellbeing facility is set to feature a GP surgery and a range of other healthcare services.
Council and NHS officials hope the addition will help improve the town’s health amenities.
It is a joint venture between Bromley Council and the NHS, following the signing of a lease agreement last year.
Councillor Colin Smith, leader of the council and co-chairman of One Bromley, said: “Having recently completed negotiations with our health partners I am absolutely delighted to be able to report that works are now underway and moving at pace to deliver upon our promise to provide a brand new state of the art health and wellbeing centre besides the new Civic Centre at Bromley South for local residents.
“While the council will now focus on completing the necessary building works to get the centre up and running at the earliest possible opportunity, could I encourage anybody with an interest in related matters to engage with our health partners and provide feedback on their plans for the new site, as we continue to work together to deliver upon our ‘One Bromley’ vision for the Bromley’s residents moving to the future.”
The new health facility is a key feature of Bromley’s civic centre development at Churchill Court.
Dr Angela Bhan, NHS place executive lead for Bromley, said: “It is exciting to see these works are underway and through our partnership work with the council, we will be able to bring these important services together, with all the health benefits this entails for residents.
“The vision for this new centre is about fulfilling long-term health needs in the borough and ensuring services work efficiently and effectively together.”
