The incident happened at around 8.20pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Penrith railway station on the service between Glasgow and London.
British Transport Police (BTP) say passengers on the train overheard “distressing and threatening Islamophobic and violent rhetoric”.

They have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to as they believe he may have information which could help with their investigation.
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference 106 of October 28.
