Coldean Lane was blocked both ways from Hawkhurst Road to A270 Lewes Road near Coldean due to a Brighton and Hove bus struggling with the snow on the road.
An image taken at Coldean Lane around the time the incident was reported shows the road covered in snow and tyre marks can be seen from where vehicles have been trying to find some grip.
This comes as Brighton and Hove buses has issued a warning to passengers that their services will be affected due to the weather conditions.
A spokesman said: “Due to the weather conditions some of our routes are currently affected.
“Route 24 (Which goes to Coldean) are running as far as Coldean lane where buses will terminate and restart.”
At least 12 incidents, including crashes and blocked roads, were reported by the AA as the blizzard buffeted the area just in time for the rush hour.
The A27 through Brighton was particularly badly affected, with traffic reports suggesting delays of around an hour at its worst.
