VuVu nightclub, located on East Street, has shut its doors for the final time.
The club, which had also operated under the names Delano’s and Zenon, is set to become a new block of flats, subject to planning permission.
In a statement, VuVu said: “We can’t thank enough all of you wonderful people, loyal customers, promoters, DJs, celebrities, performers, staff members, and partners, for years of incredible memories.”
Many people, including DJs, regular patrons, and recent I’m A Celeb cast member Melvin Odoom, shared their well wishes for the club.
The venue is no stranger to reality stars, with cast members from TOWIE and Made in Chelsea pictured inside.
On its website, owners described the venue as the “most talked about night club in the whole of Kent”.
“We have made this happen with a help of the most creative people in the industry, finest promoters, finest British and international brands, and hardworking and glamorous looking VuVu team,” the website states.
VuVu Club had eight VIP booths and an exclusive Boudoir Suite with its own bar.
The booths could host six to eight people each (mixed sex essential).
A spokesperson for VuVu said: “Vuvu, the iconic awards winning club, has closed the doors for good after 27 years of phenomenal success under several guises: Delano’s, Zenon and mostly VuVu.
“It would give a way to a new development of beautiful flats, subject to planning permissions.
“We have loved making memories, bringing communities together, celebrating the good times with you, creating friendships, inspiring love, inspiring generations of artists, and giving people a place where they can truly celebrate their eclecticism.
“We can’t thank enough all of you wonderful people, loyal customers, promoters, DJs, celebrities, performers, staff members, and partners, for years of incredible memories.”
