Jackie Bird, most famous for anchoring Reporting Scotland, has been made an MBE for her services to broadcasting and charities.
The esteemed journalist who has been a familiar face and voice on TV covering some of the most significant stories in Scotland also presented the BBC Scotland Children in Need for many years.
She said: “I’m thrilled, absolutely surprised and thrilled.
“My first thought was, ‘I can take my mum and dad to Buckingham Palace’.”
Also on the list of MBEs is legendary Liverpool and Scotland footballer Alan Hansen, who started his trophy-laden career at Partick Thistle in the 1970s.
After his playing career ended he was a long-running personality on Match of the Day.
David Moyes, from Glasgow, who began his footballing journey with Celtic before having a more successful career as a manager in England is made an OBE.
The manager has coached at Preston North End, Everton, Manchester United, succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson, and recently West Ham United where he won the Europa Conference League with the London club.
Ken McCallum, from Glasgow, head of intelligence Service MI5 receives a knighthood.
McCallum led the response to the 2017 terrorist attacks in Manchester and London and to the attempted assassination of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in Salisbury 2018.
Other Scots on the list include Barbara Rae who receives a Damehood for services to the arts.
Painter and printmaker, Barbara Rae, studied at Edinburgh College of Art and went on to teach art in secondary schools then lecture at Aberdeen College of Education and Glasgow School of Art.
She said: “When I realised it was a genuine phone call, I was lost for words – only momentarily.”
“When recommendation comes from peers and friends, it’s an honour that one can hardly refuse.”
Multiple Olympic swimming medalist , Duncan Scott, from Stirling, becomes an OBE for services to swimming.
He won his eighth Olympic medal in Paris this year in the men’s 200 metres individual medley.
Paralympic swimmer Stephen Clegg, who won two gold medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, becomes an MBE for services to swimming.
Famous names include Gareth Southgate, former England men’s football manager, who receives a knighthood.
Author Kazuo Ishiguro is awarded the Order of Companion of Honour for services to literature, while Jaqueline Wilson is awarded the Knights Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire also for services to literature.
Author and actor Stephen Fry, also vice president of charity Mind, receives a knighthood for services to mental health awareness.
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, gets a knighthood for services to politics.
Actress AnnMarie Duff is made an OBE for services to drama as is Morse actor Kevin Whately.

Scottish Secretary Ian Murray said: “I congratulate all Scots the length and breadth of the country who have been honoured by His Majesty the King in his New Year Honours list.
“The Glasgow-born head of MI5, Ken McCallum, receives a knighthood for his professionalism and dedication in keeping the country safe in such difficult times. We all thank him for this.
“Scotland’s vibrant arts and media scene is celebrated with a damehood for painter and printmaker Barbara Rae, and an MBE for broadcasting stalwart and national treasure Jackie Bird.”
