The local council confirmed the changes, affecting several streets, will start on Wednesday (December 18).
There is no fixed end date for the work, which could last for up to 18 months.
During this time, drivers may be rerouted through local streets.
The work will mean no vehicles can wait or drive along certain roads while repairs take place.
These roads include Albert Road in Penge, Barnet Wood Road in Hayes, and Berrys Hill in Cudham.
Other affected locations are Fox Lane in Keston, Framlingham Crescent in Mottingham, and Farnborough High Street.
Hillview Road in Chislehurst, Jail Lane in Biggin Hill, New Barn Lane in Cudham, Parish Lane in Penge, Starts Hill Road in Orpington, and Thorndon Close in St Pauls Cray will also be impacted.
Drivers are urged to watch for traffic signs showing which streets are closed.
These restrictions will not apply to cul-de-sacs, the council said.There is no fixed end date for the work, which could last for up to 18 months.

The council has said it will do its best to keep access open to properties on the closed roads.
Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the affected areas at all times.
The council has advised residents to contact its Environmental Services Department if they have any questions about the work.
The notice was issued by Colin Brand, the council’s Director of Environment and Public Protection.
A spokesperson for Bromley Council said: “The council’s highways team are working with Thames Water to ensure the repairs are carried out with as little disruption as possible, and to ensure any repairs to the highway are carried out.
“Residents and road users are thanked in advance for their patience.”
