A litter of four puppies was found abandoned in the woods at just six days old.
The dogs were discovered by a member of the public in Blean Woods in the first week of November.
They were taken to the Dogs Trust in Canterbury where rehoming centre manager Joanna Stuckey has been hand-rearing them herself.
The puppies were initially thought to be rottweilers due to their distinctive black and brown markings, however since they have grown they are suspected to be Yorkshire terrier and chihuahua crossbreeds due to their size and fluffy snouts.
The litter has been given names inspired by the word ‘snow’ in different languages, which is in keeping with the festive season and their story.
There are three females, called Aneira (Welsh for Snow), Eirwen (Welsh for Blessed Snow), Nieve (Spanish for Snow) and one male called Lumi (Finnish for Snow).
On Christmas day, the puppies will turn eight weeks old and will get ready to move into their forever homes, which have already been lined up.
Joana Stuckey, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Canterbury said: “It’s been such a joy to see these pups grow and overcome the odds after such a difficult start in life.
“We’re so pleased they have each got a happy place and loving family lined up for them right after Christmas, and know they’ll thrive in their new homes.”
