While most sensible citizens were cosied up at home while the winds and rain raged, The Argus’ Camera Club members donned their waterproofs and documented nature’s might on film.
Over in Newhaven, the town’s iconic lighthouse took a battering as waves surged around the 19th Century landmark, columns of spray looming over its roof.
In Lancing and Littlehampton, surfers rode the winds before the storm hit proper – making for some artistic snaps as captured by Glynn Rubidge and Paul Arkinstall.
Climping Beach also took the brunt of Mother Nature’s wrath, with roiling waves snapped by Joanna Kaczorowska, and in Brighton, the turbulent seas were framed by the imposing sight of the wind farm on the horizon.
The storm led to a weather warning being imposed by the Met Office throughout the weekend, and caused all kinds of mayhem, with a historic tree falling down in Selsey and others near Horsham and Three Bridges leading to trains being delayed.
