Romany Starrs has launched the store in The Village in East Kilbride’s historic Village, described as a retail destination “favoured for its independent boutiques”.
The shop, located at 27a Montgomery Street, will act as both store and workshop for the designer, who will handcraft her creations on site and within view.
“I’ve been looking for the perfect spot for the past five years,” said Romany.
“I wanted a boutique atmosphere in a place that feels right for the brand, and I’ve finally found it in East Kilbride Village. There aren’t many Scottish fine jewellers, especially ones who design, handcraft, and set their own stones. I’m proud to be doing that here in Scotland. I want people to think of me when they’re looking for something exceptional and well crafted.”
She also said: “I want people to remember the boutique just as much as the jewellery and the experience they have here.
“I want people to feel looked after, and to just enjoy being in the space, with a glass of champagne or a coffee in hand.”
A feature of the new boutique is its in-house workshop, visible through glass, which allows clients to witness expert craftsmanship first-hand.
“Because everything is made here, it builds up trust with the customer,” said Ms Starrs. “They love seeing how it’s done – the tools, the process. It’s a little bit of theatre.”
As well as being “an inspiring location for clients to discuss bespoke commissions, the store will allow shoppers to discover all of Romany Starr’s ready-to-wear contemporary fine jewellery collections in one space”.
The Scottish designer, who has been handcrafting jewellery for more than 20 years, takes inspiration from architecture, most notably the Bauhaus and Brutalists movements.
