M20 shut eastbound between Junction 8 at Maidstone and Junction 9 at Ashford after fuel spill

A stretch of motorway is closed this afternoon following a fuel spillage.

The M20 is shut eastbound between Junction 8 at Maidstone and Junction 9 at Ashford.

Queues of traffic are backing up along the road on the approach to the junction.

Drivers are being warned to expect delays while work is carried out to treat the spill, which resulted from an earlier collision.

National Highways staff are at the scene and a diversion is in place via the A20.
