School children will meet the comedy star at Afrori Books, a shop in North Road said to boast “the biggest selection of books by black authors in the country” tomorrow, Monday, October 14.
The writer published Tyrone’s Cool Crown at the end of August. The book follows young boy Tyrone as he overcomes his fear of getting his hair cut.
As part of the event, children, parents and carers will attend a sold-out workshop on managing and making the most out of afro hair, led by LUSH.
The event will also be attended by illustrator Salomey Doku, who will be conducting live drawing sessions and explaining how she makes characters come to life.
Sir Lenny Henry said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this incredible day and to share Tyrone’s Cool Crown with everyone in Brighton.
“The story about Tyrone’s fear of visiting the barber shop is very close to my heart, and it carries a powerful message for children and adults alike.

Illustrator Salomey Doku said: “In Tyrone’s Cool Crown, Grandad Cleveland tells Tyrone about all of the different hairstyles that there are.
