Dane Thompson forced himself on the victim at a house in Scotstoun, Glasgow in February 2023.
The traumatised woman bravely tried to fight the 35-year-old off and scratched him.
Jurors heard how her phone was under a pillow during the attack.
A call ended up being made to one of the woman’s friends.
In his closing speech, prosecutor Mark Mohammed KC stated: “She heard it happening.
“There had been a missed call and (the friend) phoned back.
“She was connected and heard (the victim) say: ‘Get off me’.”
Mr Mohammed said this backed-up the woman’s account that she had been sexually assaulted.
Thompson had denied the crime, but was convicted following the trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
He was further guilty of a charge engaging in abusive behaviour towards her.
Jurors found a separate rape accusation involving the same woman not proven.
After the verdicts, Mr Mohammed said Thompson had a previous drugs conviction.
Lord Colbeck deferred sentencing for reports until next month.
The judge told Thompson: “The seriousness of the charge of rape will not be lost on you.
“You will be remanded in custody meantime.”
Thompson was also put on the sex offenders list.
