Sam Frost, aged 34, tragically passed away following an accident on the A25 near Godstone on July 1.
Frost, the manager and partner at Jack Frost Pet and Country Store in Keston, had been involved in the family business alongside his sister Katie since he was 16 years old.
Katie, 33, shared with the News Shopper: “Sam was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always eager to help. His humor and kindness were unmatched, and he had a genuine connection with everyone he met.”
A Facebook announcement of his passing garnered 720 comments from customers and friends, who fondly remembered Sam. Comments highlighted his warmth and dedication, with phrases like “always so warm and welcoming,” “one of the most wonderful, kind people I’ve ever met,” and “an amazing young man who championed good animal care and kindness.”
Katie expressed: “Many customers say it feels surreal walking into the shop without him. There’s a significant void now.”
The family business, founded by their father, was passed on to Katie and Sam, who ran it together. “We built the shop from the ground up as teenagers. We worked side by side every day and were incredibly close, often finishing each other’s sentences,” Katie reminisced.
The collision occurred around 9:25pm and involved no other vehicles. Katie noted: “Sam had a huge heart, and it seems a heart complication might have contributed to his accident. It’s still hard to believe he’s gone.”
Describing her brother as an avid outdoorsman with a close-knit circle of friends, Katie mentioned his love for his German Shepherd and his nephew Oliver.
Instead of flowers, Sam’s family has requested donations to a cause he supported: M.E. Rebecca’s Fight. Donations can be made through their JustGiving page.
“Sam was dedicated to raising funds for his best friend Rob’s sister who suffers from M.E., so it’s fitting that contributions are directed there,” Katie said.
