Nikki Garcia was all smiles while co-hosting Netflix’s event “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef” on Monday, September 2. Her appearance came just days after her husband, Artem Chigvintsev, was arrested for domestic violence in Napa, California.
Garcia, 40, stepped out in a striking red pantsuit, expressing her happiness to be at the event and thanking the crowd. “I love you too,” she told the audience, as reported by E! News.
Her public appearance follows Chigvintsev’s arrest on August 29. The 42-year-old Dancing With the Stars professional was charged under California penal code section 273.5 (a) PC, which pertains to acts of violence against a spouse or cohabitant.
Jail records reviewed by Hollywood Life show that Chigvintsev was arrested at 9:59 a.m. in Napa County and booked at 10:40 a.m. His bail was set at $25,000, and he was released at 2:18 p.m. that same day.
Neither Garcia nor Chigvintsev has publicly commented on the arrest. A representative for Garcia released a statement requesting privacy for the family during this time.
“This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time,” the spokesperson said.
Following the arrest, there has been speculation about Chigvintsev’s future on DWTS. Prior to the incident, the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary. Garcia shared a video montage from their 2022 wedding and a memory with their son, Matteo, on Instagram. She captioned the post with lyrics from Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” reflecting on their love story.
“This song is our love story,” Garcia wrote. “I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on. And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be. Happy Anniversary @theartemc I love you [sic].”
