Brighton’s forward Danny Welbeck notched his 100th career goal in the 32nd minute, marking his sixth goal in 16 appearances against his former team. He later hit the crossbar with a header.
Building on their 3-0 triumph over Everton last weekend, Brighton continues their perfect start under new head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
“It’s always challenging to describe these emotions because they are so intense and overwhelmingly positive,” said Hurzeler, a 31-year-old German. “That’s why I love this job; these emotions are priceless and cannot be bought or replicated elsewhere.”
Hurzeler also highlighted the impact of 33-year-old former England international Welbeck, who achieved the milestone goal.
“It’s a remarkable achievement,” Hurzeler said. “Danny is a role model—there’s much I can learn from him due to his experiences, which differ from my own as a player.”
Hurzeler added, “We have meaningful discussions; he shares his insights, and I share mine. He’s a fantastic teammate, serving as a connector and offering support to everyone. Working with him and having engaging conversations is a pleasure.”
