A section of the A2 that was closed following a collision, reportedly involving a pedestrian and a lorry, has now reopened. Emergency services responded to the incident on the Boughton bypass between Brenley Corner and Canterbury earlier this evening.
Traffic on the A2 near Dunkirk was brought to a standstill, with images showing vehicles halted between the M2 and the Harbledown junction for Canterbury city center. An air ambulance was also seen hovering above and landing nearby.
As of 8:45 pm, National Highways confirmed the road was clear and traffic was moving, though some delays remain due to congestion.
A police spokesperson stated, “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the A2 near Dunkirk. The road is closed in both directions between Brenley Corner and the A2050 at Harbledown while the incident is being managed.”
