Police responded to reports of a confrontation between a man and a woman outside Crawley train station on Station Way shortly after 7:10 a.m. on Sunday. Upon searching the area, officers discovered a teenage girl deceased in a nearby car park with stab wounds, according to Sussex Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensic teams worked in the town center throughout Sunday, with police securing a bridge over the railway and a nearby walkway. Because of the incident’s location, the British Transport Police (BTP) has taken over the investigation.
Jason Pascal Flore, 26, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder and will appear in Crawley Magistrates’ Court today.
BTP Senior Investigating Officer Sam Blackburn stated, “Our specialist family liaison officers are supporting the victim’s family, and our thoughts are with them during this time. We urge anyone with information or who witnessed the events leading up to the woman’s death to contact us.”
The police are asking witnesses or anyone with relevant information to reach out online or via 101, referencing Operation Venn.
