Lidl has announced that its new store at Worthing’s Downlands Retail Park will officially open on August 29. The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 am, attended by the Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Ibsha Choudhury.
The new store will feature Lidl’s signature bakery, the Middle of Lidl section, and customer toilets with baby changing facilities. Parking will be available for both cars and bicycles.
The store is designed to be energy-efficient, generating nearly half of its energy needs through air-source heat pumps and solar panels on the entrance canopy.
This new location marks Lidl’s second store in Worthing, with the first situated on North Street. The opening weekend will offer shoppers Lidl Plus deals, complimentary food samples, and special offers on select Middle of Lidl products, including a Salter food processor for £12.99, down from the RRP of £24.99.
The new store represents a multi-million-pound investment, creating up to 40 new jobs in the area.
James Mitchell, regional head of property at Lidl GB, expressed excitement about the opening, noting the growing demand for Lidl’s value products across the country. He highlighted the benefits of the new store, including the creation of high-paying jobs and improved access to Lidl’s award-winning products. “We would like to thank everyone involved in making this store a reality and look forward to welcoming customers in the coming weeks,” he added.
The store will be open from 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday and will open at 9:30 am on Sundays for browsing, with tills operating from 10 am to 4 pm.
