“A 32-year-old man, Ioan Pintaru, has been charged in connection with the stabbing of an 11-year-old girl in Leicester Square on Monday. Pintaru, who has no fixed address, faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today.
The incident occurred on Monday, 12 August, when police were called to Leicester Square at 11:34 AM following reports of a stabbing. The young girl was found with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Initially, it was believed that her 34-year-old mother had also been injured, but it was later confirmed that the blood on her was from her daughter’s wounds.
The Metropolitan Police have urged the media and public to refrain from sharing any information that could compromise the ongoing investigation or future court proceedings.”
