A major coffee shop chain has revealed an opening date for its new Kent store inside a Sainsbury’s.
Costa Coffee previously announced the new site at the Altira Business Park in Herne Bay in February, along with ten others across the country, as part of a £3m investment.
The county’s latest branch at the supermarket giant is set to open its doors next week, on Thursday, August 8.
When the move was announced, the firm’s property director, Nick Ridley, said: “We are excited to join forces with Sainsbury’s, bringing our much-loved Costa Coffee experiences to shoppers nationwide.”
Kent recently welcomed a new Costa on the London-bound carriageway of the A2 between Canterbury and Faversham, nearly two years after proposals were first put forward.
The branch at Gate Services in Dunkirk opened on Saturday, April 13, filling the gap left by Sheila’s Kitchen.
Others are in the pipeline across the county, including at Eclipse Park, on the outskirts of Maidstone.
Gallagher Properties Limited received planning approval in May despite councillors previously dismissing the plans over concerns the business could be a “bad neighbour” to residents in a care home just 65m away.
Work has also begun on Dover’s fourth Costa store, which is taking over an abandoned warehouse on Snargate Street for a new drive-through.
Crews demolished the dilapidated unit earlier this year, with September earmarked for its grand opening.
Speaking on the opening in Herne Bay, a Costa spokesperson said: “We’re thrilled to be opening a new Costa Coffee store in Sainsbury’s Herne Bay Superstore next week.
“Opening its doors to the local community on August 8th, our new store will be a great place for customers to relax with their favourite Costa coffee after their weekly shop or to catch up with friends and family.”
