Police Scotland has reported the M74 is currently closed at between junctions six and seven southbound near to Hamilton after a collision was reported at around 3.10am on Saturday, August 3.
It is not currently known how many vehicles were involved in the collision.
The northbound carriageway was also closed but has since fully reopened.
Drivers travelling southbound have been asked to avoid the area and use other routes.
Traffic Scotland has reported a signed diversion is in place.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
