Dom Jefferies confirmed his Gillingham exit on Thursday after signing for a League 1 club.
Lincoln City have signed the 22-year-old midfielder for an undisclosed fee.
Jefferies was out of contract at the end of last season but the Gills could still demand compensation as he’s under 24.
The Welshman has joined a team that finished their season strongly last season, just missing out on a place in the League 1 play-offs.
Jefferies joined the Gills from Brentford in 2022 and he went onto make 71 appearances for the club.
On his move to The Imps, Jefferies said: “It feels great to be here and I’m glad everything is done.
“Since I’ve been here everyone has been so welcoming, it already feels like home and I am sure the coaching team here can help develop my game to the next level. I can’t wait to get going.”
Lincoln boss Michael Skubala added: “He can run all day but our recruitment department have also identified through data and live scouting, the intensity of his work, which is so important to how we want to play.
“He is another young player with the character and mentality we want, has the physical and technical attributes we were looking to add to the group and showed a huge desire to sign for us to trust the Club with the next stage of his development.”
Jefferies wrote a message to Gills fans on X after the move was completed, saying: “Loved my time at the club, worked with great people and amazing supporters. Thank you. Good luck for the season.”
