ICTS central search members at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports have overwhelmingly accepted an improved pay offer.
This agreement resolves the ongoing pay dispute, preventing any strikes from taking place.
Previously, 300 members were balloted for strike action that could have occurred during the peak summer months, with Unite the union urging airport owner AGS to intervene in the dispute.
The accepted pay deal includes a basic pay rise of five percent, a one-off payment of £500, and a shift allowance increase of 75 pence per hour, which is an uplift of around 5.9 percent.
Additionally, workers will have access to double-time shift rates for Christmas and New Year’s Day. The overall pay package boost is estimated to be worth up to 12.8 percent for some ICTS workers.
ICTS will also advertise a minimum of 15 full-time positions, initially offered to existing part-time staff following negotiations with Unite.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham stated: “Unite’s members employed by ICTS at Aberdeen and Glasgow airports have overwhelmingly backed an improved pay deal.”
“Unite has delivered another significant win for airport workers in Scotland. The latest wage win sends a clear message that if you want to secure a boost to your jobs, pay, and conditions, then join Unite.”
ICTS workers are responsible for passenger security screening, mobile patrols, access control, screening deliveries, and coordinating with emergency services.
Pat McIlvogue, Unite’s lead industrial officer for aviation in Scotland, added: “Unite has successfully negotiated a significant boost to the pay packets of ICTS workers at Aberdeen and Glasgow airports.”
“We are pleased that the company came to its senses and returned to the negotiating table to make an improved offer acceptable to our members. The possibility of strike action at the airports is now over.”
