Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort raised £6,303 for Greenock-based Ardgowan Hospice during a charity event held at its Earl of Mar Scottish championship golf course.
A total of 68 golf enthusiasts had the opportunity to play alongside notable figures such as Scottish football legends Frank McAvennie, Gordon Dalziel, Jim Melrose, and Spanish professional golfer Rafa Cabrera-Bello.
The funds will benefit Ardgowan Hospice, which offers care and support to individuals in Inverclyde facing terminal illnesses like cancer, heart failure, lung disease, kidney failure, or neurological conditions. This includes medical, practical, and emotional assistance.
Chris McQueen, Head of Golf at Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort, expressed delight over the success of the Charity Golf Day and the significant amount raised for such a meaningful cause. He emphasized the special connection Mar Hall has with Ardgowan Hospice and thanked everyone who contributed to the event.
Joanna Hunter, Fundraising Manager at Ardgowan Hospice, described the day as filled with excellent golf, pleasant company, and a shared dedication to supporting their essential services. She highlighted the vital role of the contributions in meeting the hospice’s daily operational costs, which amount to approximately £11,000. Hunter extended special gratitude to the Mar Hall staff for their efforts in making the day memorable and successful.
